The Olive Press

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

OUR FALL ISSUE IS FULL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUBMISSIONS. WE REOPEN IN SEPTEMBER.

The Olive Press aims to highlight the voices of gifted and innovative writers in our ever-changing literary world, capturing its varying attributes, exemplifying its diversity, and embracing unity. The literary work in the journal aims to promote the founding institution’s liberal arts tradition and core values.

Supported by the University of Mount Olive, The Olive Press releases digital issues every February and September. Founded in 2015 by a group of undergraduate students who desired to embrace the diversity of people and cultures, the journal seeks to join their small eastern North Carolina town to the larger world.

We welcome previously unpublished work. We assign first serial rights--and upon publication rights revert to the author.

Students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs have a no-fee submission option. Please read and follow submission guidelines in this situation.

As for other writers, we are charging a small fee for submissions -- $2.00. The use of Submittable allows our contributors to submit their work in the most cost-effective way and us to respond in a timely, sustainable, and considerate manner.
